Not fast enough, that’s for sure! No matter how hard you practice and train, you will never catch up to these anime speedsters. One blink and—oops you’re dead. But even if we’re no competition to these speed demons, let’s see how they compare to their own quick kin.
15. Tenya Ida
Anime: My Hero Academia Realistically, engines in your calves would be excruciatingly painful. But for Ida it’s what makes him one of the fastest students at U. A. High School. Quirks can be trained to get stronger. So in some odd amount of years, he’ll definitely be one of the fastest heroes once he becomes a professional. A tune-up or two may help. Possibly from Mei Hatsume…?
14. Sorahiko Torino
Anime: My Hero Academia One of the fastest heroes in the world is an old man. Anime, am I right? Appearances aside, Gran Torino is so fast he can’t be seen with your average eyes. (By the way, from here on out, average eyes are useless when it comes to these characters). His speed makes for great last minute saves right when you least expect it. Torino’s quirk is very impressive and will definitely be useful in the future.
13. Speed-o’-Sound Sonic
Anime: One Punch Man There’s probably a naming ceremony in the Ninja Village when you graduate. Otherwise, I don’t believe any self-respecting parent would name their child Sonic. Nevertheless, what Sonic learned from the village granted him excellence in speed and maneuverability. His speed is on par with Genos, the demon cyborg with rocket boosters powered by a nuclear reactor. He may have been defeated easily by Saitama – but you can’t power scale anyone that Saitama’s fought. Even though the way he was defeated wasn’t too spectacular… But when he fights a character that’s more realistic to beat, he can show off some pretty impressive moves.
12. Luck Voltia
Anime: Black Clover Luck uses lightning magic to coat his arms and legs to increase his speed immensely. He defeats his opponents easily, and then searches for his next target. Luck also loves fighting – and loves it even more when they can keep up with his speed. Especially when he gets possessed by Lufulu, his power climbs to tremendous heights. But in the manga—well, you’ll just have to read it yourself to find out what comes next for him.
11. Killua Zoldyck
Anime: Hunter X Hunter Don’t underestimate Killua just because he’s 12. That’s what many enemies did before he killed them, like Johness. This little assassin plucked out a man’s heart without him being able to react at all. It was even wrapped up in a little cloth bag too. After removing the limiter at the back of his head, his power jumped up further. At the peak of his powers, in Godspeed, he can run 40 kilometers (25 miles) in 10 minutes. And that’s on unfavorable terrain. When he’s on a paved road, he’s much faster. Such is the power of electricity. Lightning users, am I right?
10. Zenitsu Agatsuma
Anime: Demon Slayer Speaking of lightning users, Zenitsu fits the bill. While Zenitsu cuts down his opponent in less than a second, he’s even faster in the manga. Spoilers ahead, so anime-onlies you have been warned. In the next arc, he moves so fast that he can’t be tracked by Daki, an Upper-Moon demon who has extrasensory perception. Even if Zenitsu attacks in short distances in an even shorter amount of time, the speed at which he moves is horrendously fast. But when Ufotable comes to animate that scene, fans will have to replay it over and over just to catch what they missed.
9. Licht
Anime: Black Clover In German, his name means Light. No he does not use a death note. Instead he uses light magic. With this, his movements are on par with the first Wizard King himself. Licht could even take Asta’s sword from his hands and Asta couldn’t react in time. Yes, Asta couldn’t sense his ki – but he also couldn’t react with his basic instincts either. In the end, Spirit Dive Yuno and Black Asta couldn’t match Licht. Elves are scary.
8. Korosensei
Anime: Assassination Classroom Korosensei’s speed is a core part of the anime. He uses it to individually teach all the Class 3-E kids at the same time. The afterimages he produces teach each kid one-on-one in the subject they’re lacking in. If afterimages aren’t enough, he can travel at speeds up to Mach 20. That’s twenty times the speed of sound! A round trip to Mexico takes all but a few minutes and he can take a souvenir from Nepal along the way. I bet he saves a lot of money on airplane tickets.
7. Borsalino
Anime: One Piece The last remaining admiral from pre-timeskip is still kicking. Literally. Kizaru can manifest into light itself with the help of the Glint-Glint Fruit. His fighting style is mostly composed of kicks at the speed of light, something the Strawhats had no chance against at that time. I would think moving at the speed of light would make you fairly fast. But who knows, that’s just my opinion.
6. Yoruichi Shihoin
Anime: Bleach ThunderCats Ho! Wait, wrong show. Yoruichi isn’t a Thundercat (although it’s not far off…) She’s a former shinigami who holds the title of Flash Goddess. It means she has mastered Shunpo, a special step used by Shinigami that can cover long distances in an instant. No one will be able to outpace her. Even in combat, Yoruichi outmatches anyone with her enormous speed and power. In a single moment, she can take out multiple enemies while leaving afterimages behind. And that’s not to mention what she can do in her other forms. Especially the one that’s coming in the anime. You guys are in for a treat.
5. Minato Namikaze
Anime: Naruto Yet another character in the Flash family – and I don’t mean DC. Konoha’s Yellow Flash mastered the Flying Thunder God technique, created by Tobirama Senju. This jutsu allows the user to literally teleport anywhere the technique formula is marked. It goes without saying that instant teleportation is remarkably fast. Honestly, the anime got about 16% better with Minato in it. These are real statistics, trust me.
4. Ryo Shimazaki
Anime: Mob Psycho 100 Who knew teleportation could be so damn cool? That was my first thought when I saw Ryo in action. His heightened perception allows him to predict movements and his teleportation allows him to act to counter accordingly. Teleporting anywhere you want could be so much fun. I wonder if Ryo used to pull pranks when he was a child. I can imagine the jumpscares.
3. Sho Kusakabe
Anime: Fire Force Before we even get to Sho’s powers, let’s commend the fact that he was able to fight Shinra using Rapid without his adolla burst ability. Sho was not only able to keep up with him at that speed – but also overwhelm him as well. However, with Sho’s Ignition Ability, he slows down time by reducing the heat from the natural expansion of the universe. To Sho, everyone looks like statues and the world becomes quiet. To everyone else, he looks like he’s teleporting. Too bad he can’t use it for more than a few seconds. He could’ve binged so much anime!
2. Shinra Kusakabe
Anime: Fire Force Shinra gets a higher place than Sho? Must be that older brother privilege. Although Sho had dominated Shinra in the first half of their fight, he was unable to counter Shinra when he formed an Adolla Link with the Evangelist. Viktor Licht—if you don’t remember, he was creepily watching in the corner behind a pillar— figured out that Shinra surpassed the speed of light. For all my non-theoretical physicists out there, that means his body, now reduced to molecular particles, traveled back in time when his body was whole again. Basically, going back in time is faster than slowing down time. I think it’s better if we just enjoy watching the fire go boom.
1. Whis
Anime: Dragon Ball Z I mean, look at his name. It’s literally the sound effect for something moving fast. Whis is the fastest being in the universe. He can traverse the universe in a matter of minutes. That’s beyond the speed of anything we can realistically compare to in our world. Pro tip: If you’re running late for anything, hit up Whis. He’ll take you to wherever you need to be. Just make sure you always have an ice cream tub handy for proper payment.
